The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for a Full-Time Theology Teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. The Theology Department works to guide students toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek to communicate a truly Christian worldview in which issues of today's challenging environment are seen in the light of eternity. With a firm foundation in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition as outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, we challenge students to draw connections, build community, serve the marginalized and choose the good freely and with joy.
Teach classes in Church History, Ecumenism and Inter-religious Dialogue, Blessed Trinity and the Sacraments. May also teach classes in Sacred Scripture and Catholic Sexuality.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop lesson plans, write assessments and maintain academic standards
- Embraces technology, as appropriate, to enrich our students' learning experience
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide a productive, encouraging and stimulating classroom environment
- Maintains a class portal (i.e., calendar, resource pages, assignment posting/submission) and online gradebook
- Evaluates and provides timely feedback on student progress appropriate to the level of instruction, and makes curricular adjustments in accordance with student needs
- With the department Chair, selects and requisitions books, instructional aids and instructional supplies
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs
Theology teachers should have at least one of the following degrees from an accredited institution:
- Graduate degree in Theology, Divinity, Religious Studies or Religious Education
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology, Religion or Religious Studies
- Bachelor of Arts with a minor (18 credits) in Theology, Religion or Religious studies
Experience teaching Theology and/or Religion in an academic context
Effective communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively within the community
Must be comfortable teaching students in an all girls Catholic School
Experience with teaching or working with an iPad is desirable
